Living with purpose. Exhausting!

Uncomfortable questions. Better outcomes.

Exploring what works (and what doesn’t) in the delivery of public services, with a bent towards Defence. It comes with a side-order of reflections on life in general. I’m a former military officer, business executive, founder, and consultant. A long-time advisor to governments and industry with a specialty in “getting things done”. Embarking on my third adventure. I’ve learned too much that deserves to be shared, and I’m learning new stuff that should be shared too.

Insights with an edge

Perspectives, observations & insights

Australia should lead the world in public service delivery. We will only get there by challenging the status quo.

The public and private sectors live in their own swim lanes. Too often forgetting each other’s purpose and misunderstanding perspectives.

We need to be comfortable with having our orthodoxies challenged if we wish to move beyond the status quo.

Testing how we govern, measure, and deliver public services, through the public and private sectors, and at the intersection of the two.

Practical practices & training

Support and advice for those who need and want to think, and do, differently. Designed for both sides of the table, especially where the public and private sectors meet.

Strategic support to procurement, pursuit, delivery performance, and complex program establishment and recovery.

Courses in writing, negotiation, tendering, managing contracts—and practical practices for managers and desk officers.

A personal journey

The journey continues – but a lot to learn from the past and as I stumble into the future.

Life in the military was a great foundation in everything!

Leaving me with great experiences, good stories that I tend not to tell, but am often asked about.

Running a company was the hardest thing I have done, except perhaps for leaving it behind.

The next journey should be simple, but it is turning into a different sort of adventure. Maybe someone wants to hear about it.
